Hotel Casa Real del Cafe, Coatepec, Veracruz
This year I have traveled a lot and stayed in many hotels in Peru, California, and two states in Mexico, Queretaro and Veracruz, and know exactly what makes a great hotel, for me at least. I would put plenty of electrical outlets, 60-watt light bulbs, a bathtub, and lots of hot water, right at the top of the list; followed by thick towels, soft sheets, attentive service, free internet, and a great masseur available for a nightly massage, The Casa Real del Cafe has all of that and more.
This hotel is the converted home of a coffee grower.and they have great coffee available at any time of the day or night, to go or drink in bed. It sometimes comes with delicious bread from the corner bakery. Other times the bread was way past its time. They serve breakfast in the tables in the beautiful court but did not have the chance to try it because we had scheduled every meal with local chefs in the surrounding towns. My recommendation would be for them to have some wholesome snacks for late evening, I was very hungry late one night and they made me a sandwich reminiscent of boarding school. I appreciated it because I needed to eat something but it was not up to the standards of the hotel. But that was the only thing wrong in a 5 -day stay.
