IN June 2013, Harvard Radcliffe acquired the papers of Zarela Martinez for the Schlesinger Library where they reside next of those of other pioneering women such as Amelia Earhart, Susan B. Anthony, Julia Child, Elizabeth David and Helen Keller, among others. The extensive material is in the process of being catalogued to create a word-searchable roadmap to the collection to make its content available to researchers all over the world.

In Mexico, the acquisition was national news and a great source of pride. This is the first archive of a Mexican-woman to be acquired by Harvard/Radcliffe’s Schlesinger Library.
It all started with Maurizio Guerrero’s article for the news agency Notimex:
