Ways to celebrate and honor your mother

Mom or me? I like to ask people what the best gift they’ve ever  given is and what is the best gift they have ever gotten.  The second one is more difficult for me to answer because I have many loving friends who pick their gifts with great care but the best would have to be the days Jamie, my beau, spent researching the history of my landmark house. The best gift I ever gave was to have a video history of my mother’s family made for her 75th birthday that she must’ve watched one hundred times at least.  I also asked  everyone who knew her to write their favorite memory of her and put it in an album that she picked up and read often. It may be too late to do get this done in time for this Mother’s Day but keep it in mind for the next one or a special birthday.

But you could:

1.- Write your favorite memory or special moment and include it in a card.  (Check out the pieces submitted by family and friends on mothering in the Culture section under articles)

2.-Video tape or record it if your computer has a camera and, depending on her technological ability, make her a VHS,  DVD, or an email attachment.  She’ll cherish it forever.

3.-Make an photo album of special moments you’ve shared.

4.-Take her to lunch at ZARELA .  This is the first time we open for lunch on Mother’s day so I hope you come to enjoy our regular menu or some of my mother’s favorite recipes that we are featuring as specials.

5.-Have Sahu go to her house and give her  the best facial in New York.

6.-Get the family together and let us cater or send a nice buffet over.

7.- Buy her my cooking class that I’m giving at the Culinary Loft this Monday.  What more fun thing could you get her for $55.00?

See how I snuck in the commercials?
