David Garland –Dream Maker

Sometimes, I might go to a party and I’ll meet a person or a  nice couple who I immediately sense  I would like to have as friends and to get to know better. I ask them to join me at home for a drink.  That is how I met David Garland, star of WNYC’s Spinning on Air and Evening Music on WNYC-FM 93.9 and Anne, his lovely wife, an accomplished illustrator, and we sat around and talked for hours in my backyard.  As I am wont to do, I usually start singing and I almost fell off my chair, when he said he wanted to record me.  ME!!!  This was a a long held dream of mine that I never thought I would accomplish and here he was giving me this tremendous gift.

We recorded with Silvio Solis a marvelous harpist and Pancho Espinola, who played  at the restaurant for years.  They were all pleased with it. I don’t know how it will sound once it’s mixed (I am not a professional singer by any means) but you can decide for yourself on September 12 at 8:00PM when it will air.  The recording was made in honor of the Bicentennial of Mexican Independence and the hundred anniversary of the Mexican revolution.  It was one of the greatest thrills of my life and I thank David for making this dream come tru

So I will appear on WNYC’s Spinning On Air, hosted by David Garland, on Sunday, September 12, 8 – 9 pm on WNYC FM 93.9 in New York City and world-wide on http://www.wnyc.org/

After the broadcast the show will be available for listening anytime on wnyc.org . There will be a Web address for that which you can share with people after the broadcast.

In  the meantime,  check out David’s highly original music.  His newest album is Noise in You and Togetherness
