Machu Picchu
They say that one should not die without having been in Machu Picchu so here I am completely overwhelmed by the majesty and enormity of this site. It’s difficult to capture the essence of Machu Picchu and the mental and physical impact it had on me. I is not the structures or organization of the buildings. We have more ornate and splendid constructions in Mexico such as El Tajin in Veracruz, Teotihuacan, Chichen Itza. It’s the setting, on impossibly high mountains that makes you feel at times that there is not enough room in your chest to hold your soaring heart. It’s like that moment in lovemaking often called “the small death” when you feel that you might lose yourself and fly away and you let go and let it happen.
As can be expected it is impossible to capture in a photograph but here are some that Pedro took that will give you an idea of what awaits you if you should decide to come this way.
