Forget Tex-Mex, in restaurant Zarela it’s the authentic Mexican kitchen that does it for New Yorkers. Already a popular spot since the 80’s for culi’-freaks in Manhattan, it bubbles with life here even on the quietest evenings. The owner Ms Zarela Martinez is just as famous as her restaurant, thanks to cook books, and her own TV show but above all through her cookery. On the menu, a forever changing selection of tamales, enchiladas and naturally fruity margaritas. The trout tastes spectacular, lightly seasoned and super fresh. From vegetables to main course and drinks, everything is subtle and refined. Just watch out though if you are addiction prone. In that case it’s better to leave the flan dessert out…
