Feliz Dia de las Madres – Today is Mother’s Day in Mexico
My friend, Alfredo Lopez, an extraordinary musician and leader of the group Quetzacoatl has been a student and performer of regional music since he was 11, Alfredo shares with all the members of the group a passion for scholarship and the preservation of authentic musical forms. He has mastered more than 20 styles of Latin American traditional music, skillfully plays over 30 instruments and is also a superb vocalist. Visit their web page Luna Blanca and buy their album –it’s fabulous!
He sent me this poem that he wrote to celebrate mothers. Today is Mother’s day in Mexico.
As a yearly religious rite I add myself to the masses, the ones who know that “mother” signifies the beginning and the end.
I know that she is our beginning and her own end. Because she, that mother whom we remember (although many of us have so forgotten her as in today in this celebration), is the one who has given us this opportunity to live and to experience life itself – the life of which we are in control from our system and free will.
Thank you woman for being the mother of my life, the mother of my being, the mother of my body, the mother of my intellect including the mistakes I have made in my journey through life!
Thank you for allowing me to try to recreate in me my own path – that which you would have wanted to do or experience!
Thank you for reminding me who I am, where I am going, what I am doing and with whom, each time I speak with you!
Thank you grandmother and mother, thank you mother and sister, thank you, thank you so much mother, for being my mother!!.
!!HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!
Every day!!!.
