Mexican Family Cooking
If you want to know where Aaron Sanchez, my son, and I get our inspiration, here is the source: I just found out that my mother Aida Gabilondo’s book Mexican Family Cooking, Ballantine Books (1987) is available on Alibris.
When the book first came out, Paula Wolfert a, a friend and my all-time favorite cookbook author, said to me: “Oh! Zarela. I am so disappointed in your mother’s book. I thought that she would top Diana (Kennedy) . I replied:” Sorry to break it to you but this is the way middle class families cook.” It is still a favorite and a bible to many.
